[OOC] Countess; a playlist for Aeron (and family)
A bit of backstory before the first song: Aeron was originally envisioned for a non-magical multiverse RP set in Nolan's Gotham City. Her history was much the same, although darker; her grandfather was a very old and twisted man who was a higher up in one of the Triads (can't find the notes now to say which one) and oversaw their drug trade and human trafficking. Her brother was a sociopath whose delusions of grandeur led him to kill young men and women (usually Caucasian) in the name of cleansing the earth. Her mother was a scientist whose death was orchestrated by the government after she threatened to go public about the bioweapon they'd hired her to create. Vesca and the Howell branch of the family were much the same, although Vesca was a much more broken man who lost custody of Aeron when she was small.
Anyway, while I was putting the character together I kept the Batman Forever and Batman & Robin soundtracks on repeat. Some of the songs stuck.
Smashing Pumpkins - The Beginning is the End is the Beginning
Delivered from the blast
The last of a line of lasts
The pale princess of a palace cracked
And now the kingdom comes
Crashing down undone
And I am a master of a nothing place
Of recoil and grace
Theme song.
Ego Likeness - The devil's in the chemicals
The devil's in the chemicals
The demon's in the DNA
I've got this darkness in me
And there's no one to blame
It's just my human nature
It's just my human stain
Nine Inch Nails - Sanctified
What if she touches with those fingertips.
As the words spill out like fire from her lips.
If she says come inside I'll come inside for her.
If she says give it all I'll give everything to her.
The Ds have always had a way of inspiring devotion or obsession. Which one depends on who you ask.
Repo! The Genetic Opera - Let The Monster Rise & I Didn't Know I'd Love You So Much
The first time I saw this movie, I was struck by how much Nathan and Shilo resembled an exaggerated (though not nearly as much so as it should be) version of Aeron's relationship with her father.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand
He'll rekindle all the dreams
it took you a lifetime to destroy
He'll reach deep into the hole,
heal your shrinking soul
Hey buddy, you know you're
never ever coming back
He's a god, he's a man,
he's a ghost, he's a guru
A song for Grandpappy, who's never denied it.
Korn - Alive
It's thrown in my face everyday
Guess that's the price I have to pay
For what's inside my mind
I am alive
I will never run away
Places inside
My heart screams inside with pride
The character would hate that this is on her soundtrack, but until I find a better "fuck you I will not be beaten down" song, here it stays. Suggestions?
The Offspring - Pay the Man
See the way the wind blows
Lives are intertwined
Watch the way the world goes
The man deals out our plight
Jester in the corner
Laughs without a sound
Pretty much Aeron's view on life.

The entire movie fits them well. Its a little eerie, yes.
OOC
As for another 'I will not be beaten down' song...uhhh. I have not been listening to the right music lately for that, but Bon Jovi's 'It's My Life' comes to mind. Possibly cheesy, but hey.

I'mma hunt you down a 'fuck you' song tonight.

Crippled Black Phoenix - Rise Up And Fight maybe? It's not as angry, but it has a sort of desolate aspect to it.

A bit, but, hey, at least it's an entertaining move.
